Conducts field research on soil organic carbon dynamics in relation to soil properties and processes; compares and validates measurements made by handheld and remote-sensing devices on soil properties; develops and validates models on soil organic carbon dynamics; cooperates with other researchers working on the project; prepares manuscripts for journal articles, book chapters, conference proceedings; makes presentations of findings at local, regional, and national meetings; and prepares project reports. The incumbent will work in cooperation with Microsoft to develop a cost-effective and handheld device for in-situ determination of soil organic carbon and other key properties.
