The Research & Development Scientist plays a vital role in developing, expanding, and maintaining our product line by supporting field trials with University, USDA, and independent scientists in diverse crops including tree fruits and nuts, vegetables, and other specialty crops. If you are detail-oriented, organized and solution-driven with a passion for entomology, pest management, semiochemicals, integrated pest management, agriculture we would like to hear from you!
Manage a field trial program to develop performance data for pheromone active ingredients on a wide variety of crops conducted primarily through cooperating academic research/extension institutions, private contractors, and collaboration with key customers and commodity groups.
Track progress of trials, analyze and summarize results, and develop technical recommendations based on study outcomes.
Lead reporting, planning, and budgeting processes to coordinate project activities.
Facilitate product knowledge training and technical support with sales team, including oversight of grower demonstration trials, interfacing with key market influencers, presentations to customers, and participation in trade shows, distributor/grower meetings, and field tours.
Identify and develop new business opportunities for increased sales to existing products or developing new products and markets.
Obtain and communicate competitive practices and assist in the assessment of ISOMATE product competition information.
Function as a Team Player with a willingness to identify issues and opportunities resulting in the development and implementation of improved products and strategies.
Requires 25-50% domestic travel.
Ensure PBC maintains an industry leading reputation and working relationship with contract scientist.
Represent PBC regarding industry issues via participation on and leadership of task forces, working groups, etc.
Masters degree in science or related discipline (entomology, agronomy, plant pathology, etc.) is required.
Effective written and oral communication skills; experience writing scientific reports is necessary.
Excellent presentation skills; ability to articulate research into applied best practices to large groups of growers, Pest Control Advisors.
Experience with designing field trials in various cropping systems, data collection and analyses.

Additional/Preferred Expertise:
PhD in science or related discipline (entomology, agronomy, plant pathology, biology, etc.).
General knowledge of US crop protection regulatory affairs.
Experience with insect behavior and physiology.
Two plus years of relevant experience working with biotechnology in commercial product development, applied research/extension, or technical sales and marketing related to crop protection.
