Applied Sciences Research Associate Position Description
Agricen Sciences, an applied sciences research company, leading the development of novel microbial and biochemical solutions for plant nutrition and health, is looking for a full-time plant science research associate.
Duties and responsibilities:
Independently design, execute, analyze, prepare, and disseminate results of greenhouse plant studies that evaluate novel biostimulant technologies and product concepts
Develop protocols for plant assays that effectively evaluate efficacy of novel technologies using variable methods of application on multiple crop species with high test power
Measure plant growth rate responses to various biostimulant products using plant phenotyping systems and analytical software
Determine plant physiological modes of action of biostimulant technologies using chlorophyll content, gas exchange and photosynthesis measurement equipment, and biochemical assays
Collect and analyze plant test data to determine the statistical significance of treatment effects using valid statistical models and procedures
Communicate plant test results effectively to R & D and business staff
Required qualifications:
Minimum M.S. degree with at least 2 years research experience in a plant science-related field, such as agronomy, horticulture, plant physiology, or plant pathology
Proficiency in experimental design and analysis of data, particularly from greenhouse experiments
Excellent collaboration skills, including partnering across teams with strong cross-cultural sensitivity
Desired experience in:
Using plant phenotyping systems and Linux-Python-based analytical software
Hyperspectral imaging and analysis of plant responses
Using statistical analysis software, like SAS-JMP
Greenhouse operations
Creating and utilizing databases and database management software
Working with or within a private company research environment
