The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is seeking qualified applications for an Agronomic Crops Regional Extension Agent (REA) in the east central region of Alabama. Applicants must be self-directed and able to thrive in a flexible work environment.
This position is a 100% non-tenure track faculty Extension assignment covering multiple counties. The Agent will be housed in one of the County Extension offices located in the region served.
Geographic Area: East Central Alabama – Agronomic Crops Program (Calhoun, Cleburne, Talladega, Clay, Randolph, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Lee, Macon, Russell, Autauga, Elmore, Montgomery, Lowndes)
The Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) is the outreach and engagement organization for the land grant mission of AU and Alabama A&M University. It delivers science-based educational programs in all 67 counties that enable individuals, families, and communities to improve their quality of life and economic well-being. The mission of the Extension Agronomic Crops Team is to provide research-based information and learning opportunities to commercial row crop producers and related constituents. As part of its mission, the Agronomic Crops Team is committed to the clientele's long-term sustainability and profitability through environmentally sound agronomic row crop production programming.
The successful Regional Extension Agent (REA) will participate as a cohesive team member and will work with local clientele, advisory groups, and other interested parties to plan, implement, and evaluate agricultural row crop programming conducted in their region. Team members will provide educational programs addressing all phases of row crop agriculture as deemed necessary by the Agronomic Crops Team (which includes REAs, County Extension Coordinators, and ACES Specialists). Their Extension Program will emphasize the use of agricultural technologies as a tool to assist producers in this region of Alabama. Historically, the row crops produced in these counties include but are not limited to cotton, soybeans, field corn, and small grains.
