As the Rangeland Research Technician, you will:
Provide support to the Rangeland and Landscape Ecology program through the collection of vegetation and soil data according to research protocol.
Complete field-based sample gathering duties which may require travel to a variety of states while working in an outdoor environment where weather and environmental factors can be demanding.
Process and package collected field samples.
Collect and summarize research data, maintain accurate records, track research material inventory, and prepare initial research reports.
Travel to research sites across the country will be necessary during the growing season (May-August) with stays averaging 1-3 weeks.
Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as an Agricultural Research Technician II.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in range science, natural resource management, ecology or a related field. Ability and willingness to work outdoors in a variety of conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to use (or learn to use) field GPS systems, ArcGIS, and R programming language.
